What Our Visitors Have to Say

At Westwood Aparthotel, our guests' opinions are at the heart of everything we do. We take immense pride in creating memorable stays, and hearing about their experiences helps us to continually enhance our services.

My stay at Westwood was fabulous! The room and facilities are of a very high standard and extremely comfortable, with the added facility of a small kitchenette in the Baron Howard room, which made my business stay very convenient. The room was warm and large, and the bed was extremely comfortable.

The location of the Westwood is only a short walk to Glossop railway station and a direct line for my trip into Manchester. In the evening I returned to Glossop and visited a local restaurant for dinner with friends.

Altogether a lovely place to stay, and I will be sure to return!

NV - Belgium

Our stay in the Partington room was simply delightful. The space was bright, airy, and beautifully furnished, making it feel like a home away from home. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the peaceful atmosphere made for a perfect night's sleep.
My husband made use of the workspace in the lounge area to catch up on emails, while I took a coffee outside to the seating area to get some morning air.
The whole stay was exactly what we needed.

Sandra & Mark

We stayed in the Samuel Hill-Wood room for a night while visiting friends for their wedding, and it exceeded all expectations.

The room was beautifully designed, incredibly well-equipped, and far more spacious than other places we've stayed. From the very convenient kitchenette to the luxurious bathroom, every detail was considered.

After a long day of celebrations, it was the perfect retreat. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Our Heritage

Westwood Aparthotel is located in an area historically known as Mill Town, one of the earliest settled parts of Glossop. Unlike many industrial districts in the region, Mill Town was named after a medieval corn mill that once stood in what is now Manor Park, rather than the cotton mills that later defined the area’s economy. Nearby, Cornmill House still reflects this heritage.

Opposite the aparthotel stood Howardtown Mills, a major industrial complex expanded by the Wood family during the 19th century. John Wood, originally from a mill-owning family in Marsden, Yorkshire, moved to Glossop in 1815, bringing with him a wealth of experience in textile manufacturing. Over the following decades, the complex grew significantly, covering much of the area from Victoria Street to High Street East. John Wood’s sons continued his legacy, contributing to the town with notable public gifts, including Wood’s Hospital, Howard Park, and Wood’s Baths.

The building at 51-53 High Street East, now home to Westwood Aparthotel, has a long and varied history. Over the years, it has housed families of mill workers, businesses, and shopkeepers. Number 53 was used as a shop for many years, with past residents including confectioners, cycle makers, and even a herbalist. The property’s history reflects the evolution of Glossop from a bustling mill town to the vibrant community it is today, making Westwood Aparthotel a unique place to stay with deep historical roots.
